Conversion to digital photos
The easiest way to scan images, which we all keep doing at a personal level is capturing the image with a camera and converting the hard copy in .jpeg format. These techniques of scanning and document photography are used for digitizing images and hard copied text documents. Digitization converts an image into a number of picture elements or pixels. The number of pixels determine the quality and clarity of the resulted image.
However, the more accurate way of scanning images is with the help of scanners featured with charge-coupled device (CCD) or a contact image sensor (CIS) as the image sensor. For delicate books, images and documents, non-contact planetary scanners are used for capturing the images, to avoid physical contact, thereby refraining the hard copy from getting damaged.
